Digital, simple, efficient: Bystronic optimizes quality management with SAP Fiori and ORBIS

Bystronic Laser AG from Niederönz in Switzerland is digitalizing, simplifying and streamlining its processes for recording and handling quality problems with a web-based and easy-to-use SAP Fiori app. Bystronic, a leading provider of solutions for processing sheet metal and other flat materials, commissioned ORBIS AG of Saarbrücken, Germany, to install, configure and customize the transactional app "Report Quality Problem".

With this app from the SAP Fiori collection, which is seamlessly linked to the SAP application for quality management (SAP QM), quality deviation reports (QAB) can now be created quickly and conveniently on a SAPUI5 interface in a web-based form. After saving, the entered data flows into SAP QM. There, a quality notification is created whose number is immediately available, for example, for queries. Since the app displays the user's quality notifications clearly in a list, this also ensures a high level of transparency. Access is via desktop using the SAP Fiori Launchpad, although the application can also be used on a tablet or smartphone at any time.

In order to achieve high efficiency in reporting quality issues, the SAP Fiori app was adapted to Bystronic's requirements by the ORBIS experts and its range of functions was expanded, for example by integrating SAP QM catalogs and an F4 help function for simplified searches for codes in a catalog or input values in specific fields. In addition, it is now possible to create any document type (image, text, sound, drawing) in the app and to validate the data entry using the material or order number from SAP QM. Once validation has taken place, the material short texts from the SAP software are displayed. There is also a print function specifically for the notification documents.

Currently, the SAP Fiori app is being used in Switzerland. However, based on the positive experience and the expected business benefits, Bystronic is planning to roll it out to all companies that map their quality management in SAP QM. The app will also be further developed and optimized in collaboration with ORBIS.
