LogiMAT 2020: Taking the Step to the Smarter Factory in the SAP Environment with ORBIS

At LogiMAT 2020 (March 10-12, 2020), ORBIS AG, the international software and business consulting company based in Saarbrücken, Germany, will be showcasing the ORBIS "Smarter" Factory, which is fully integrated into SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA, at Stand D43 in Hall 8. This Smarter Factory consists of much more than automated processes in production and intralogistics. It uses the data and information generated as part of digitalization so intelligently that the ideal state of a self-controlling, autonomous factory with orchestrated processes and efficient fault management is created, requiring intervention only in exceptional cases. The experts from ORBIS will demonstrate that this is not just a vision in live demonstrations at the trade fair booth.

The central instrument for controlling this smarter factory is the ORBIS Information Management System (ORBIS IMS). It monitors the control loops based on knowledge and experience of process-relevant data and initiates follow-up activities immediately based on stored deviation scenarios using "real-time data".

An important building block for a Smarter Factory under SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA is the seamless integration of intralogistics processes and the store floor, which is achieved with the help of ORBIS Logistics and the ORBIS Manufacturing Execution System (ORBIS MES).

The ORBIS Logistics solutions - the ORBIS Transport Control System (ORBIS TSS), the ORBIS Picking Cockpit and the ORBIS Packaging Cockpit - automate and optimize intralogistics processes from goods receipt to shipping and make them more dynamic. An important role is played by the intuitive, multilingual ORBIS Logistics Apps, which optimally complement the ORBIS Logistics solutions. They provide "out of the box" functions for core logistics processes, support all common mobile platforms, are easy to implement and promise a fast return on investment (RoI).

ORBIS MES links and synchronizes the data from the store floor in "real time" with the processes in SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA, thus enabling digital networking of the value chain. In this way, the SAP software becomes a virtual image of what is actually happening in the factory - the keyword here is digital twin. In all of this, end users can view all information relevant to them in ORBIS MES anywhere, at any time, and on any end device, and thus process their tasks quickly and efficiently.

The basic technology for ORBIS Logistics and the ORBIS MES is the modular ORBIS Multi-Process Suite (ORBIS MPS), which links actors - people, machines, plants, devices, systems and sensors - and SAP processes bidirectionally.
